The greatest adventures a person can go on are ones that are of deep personal importance, not taking capricious vacations to remote regions of Europe where you don't even speak the language. What made Bourdain's show so interesting is that he actually knew most of the people he was visiting and had connections to the places.
I think the the guy raising a new family in Michigan is on a far greater adventure than the guy waiting tables in Spain so he can talk about his trip later. Same thing applies to work, people who do what they do out of necessity or passion are much more interesting than someone intentionally trying to work interesting jobs.
