it's ok. the pay is fairly bad and it can be quite hard work if you're busy. but on the flipside you can have a few drinks on the job and have a decent laugh with customers and colleagues as well. it makes a nice change from software which is what I was doing before!

Well, you wouldn't be unemployed if you bartended. Idk what kind of bar admin works in to say the wages are bad, because while the payment from the employer might be virtually nothing, you can rack up hundreds in a one night. I had a friend who worked under the table for a bar, no wages only tips, on busy nights and would make more than I made in a week or more in two or three days. I guess if you worked in a slow bar it might be pretty rough, but in the case, you basically do no work lol.

Maybe in the US you make that much in tips but not in Europe. I make around $25 in my local currency per night, often less. And a decent chunk of that is from money we make at the bar by saving leftover mixers and pocketing the difference.

Corpo tech world sounds honestly like hell. Golden handcuffs I guess is the only upside. But I hear tech isn't that well paying over there, at least in comparison to the US.
I think I would've gone into tech if it hadn't been for habitual computer use giving me a RSI / nerve problem and my enjoyment of reading.
