Thinking about Wales
Post image
What an interesting place. Less relevant than any Pacific island microstate, yet right next to England, suckered on like a barnacle. Kept its language while Ireland has been trying fruitlessly for 300 years to "revive" Irish. Everyone seems to forget about it, yet it putters on in humble silence. Tightly running infrastructure reminds one of a Scandi state. Is it really all down to geography at the end of the day...

Wanted to post that I couldn't even name a band from Wales off the top of my head, so I looked it up and you know who's Welsh? Bullet For My Valentine, lol! Guess I'll stick to Tom Jones (he's got a funny end-career art pop album that has grown on me)

A lot of fantastic Welsh artists out there. Snow Patrol, U2, My Bloody Valentine, Van Morrison, Shinead O'Connor. Clannad! You little leprechauns certainly punch above your weight!

My cousin is weirdly obsessed with Wales. He’s never been to the UK and our family is of primarily English ancestry with no actual ties left to the country. I never understood it but it was nice to know that I’m not the only one in our family with autistic dreams.
