Does it disturb anyone else when an artist's portfolio is mainly simple self-portraits or similar? It makes me think they have nothing interesting to express or that they don't understand themselves.

Yes, but notice how it's not the same kind of annoying when a musical artist releases album after album about autobiographical themes... It can get annoying but not like a person that draws their own face over and over. Something about the visual medium. Maybe we are not meant to see our faces
