people call it many things from postmodernism to hyperindividualism, but essentially it is the spirit of our time; people live in specially constructed bubbles with no opening to the outside world and in the centre of the bubble lies their whole being that thinks about nothing but itself. In the 21st century, intellectualism is nothing but an aesthetic to dress up your ego with and just like many other things, it has lost its defining qualities entirely.
